Two Esports Tournaments to Compete in for Extra Life in July

Have some free time in July? Consider signing up to participate in the Extra Life Phoenix OR Boston Children’s Hospital Esports Tournaments! Play to win prizes and cash while also benefiting a good cause.

Boston Children’s Hospital Online Rocket League Gaming Tournament July 11-12, 2020:

Money raised through this event will benefit many areas of Boston Children’s Hospital, through its Every Child Fund. This fund fuels promising research and vital family services not covered by insurance. Every penny raised goes directly to helping kids.

Boston Children’s Hospital is working with Boston Rocket League and Extra Life to host a Rocket League gaming tournament on July 11 and 12. The top three teams will receive prize packages, featuring Microsoft Xbox branded items and gift cards while raising funds to support patient care and lifesaving research at Boston Children’s.

Teams will consist of three players each and matches will run in a three-vs-three format. The matches will be live-streamed as well, with commentators discussing the play-by-play action across each battle.  To learn more about how you can participate and register, click here.

Extra Life Phoenix – July 25-26, 2020 Online Tournament:

All proceeds from this tournament go to Phoenix Children’s Hospital through Extra Life, so you can compete and feel good knowing you’re battling for the kids.

There will actually be four different competitions occurring under the Extra Life Phoenix Esports Tournament. Players will duke it out in Madden NFL 20, NBA 2K20, Fortnite, and Rocket League. Each competition has its own rules and dates. Here are the details:

Madden NFL 20: Registration closes on July 12. Qualifiers take place on July 14. The competition will be limited to the Xbox One platform.

NBA 2K20: Registration closes on July 13. Qualifiers take place on July 13. The competition will be limited to the Xbox One platform.

Fortnite: Registration closes on July 15 if they have more than 198 people register. A qualifying round will take place on July 18 if more than 198 people enter. If fewer than 198 people join, registration closes on July 19 and there will be no qualifying round. Competition will

Rocket League: Registration closes on July 16. Qualifiers take place on July 18.

All of this will culminate in a two-day streaming extravaganza. Players who qualify for their competitions will move on to their respective finals that take place on July 25 and 26. People who manage to snag the top four to five places in each tournament will receive prizes in the form of cash and other prizes still to be announced.

Additionally, there will be exhibition rounds starring professional esports players from organizations like FaZe Clan, continuing their track record of supporting Extra Life, and other well-known streamers. Expect to hear and see patient stories from Phoenix Children’s interspersed throughout the quarterfinals, semifinals, and climactic finals during the live-streamed culmination of the event.
